|History of name:
This name doesn't appear in the Christian Bible. This name has been used a number of times by European royalty, but the most famous was perhaps Joan of Arc, Maid of Orleans and a patron saint of France. A 15th-century peasant girl who, after claiming she heard messages from God, telling her to find the true king of France and help him reclaim his throne, was given leadership of the French army. She defeated the English in the battle of Orléans but was eventually captured (and sold to the English) and burned at the stake.
