Mentioned in the Christian Bible in Acts 17:34 as the name of a woman converted to Christianity under the ministry of the apostle Paul. Believed to be a woman of some importance as she is mentioned specifically and is regarded as being the same person of Saint Damris of Athens. Another religious connection is niece of St Beuno, who had her head cut off by a jealous admirer. St Beuno, replaced her head and she spent the rest of her days living as a nun at Gwytherin.
