|History of name:
Doesn't appear in the Christian Bible. However, most famous was the 3rd century martyr. Having incurred the wrath of a consul named Quintian after she refused his advances, she was handed over to a brothel keeper. When she emerged from this captivity uncorrupted he chose to torture her instead. St Peter appeared to her in a vision and healed her wounds. Her eventual death (being rolled over hot coals) was preceded by an earthquake.
