|History of name:
This name doesn't appear in the Christian Bible. The most famous religious connection is perhaps Saint Marcella. She was a wealthy Roman noble woman who was widowed after only seven months of marriage. Following this, she organised a group of religious women at her mansion on the Aventine Hill. Captured by the Goths who looted Rome in 410 AD, she was tortured to give up her treasure. However, she was released when they realised she had given away everything to the poor. Following this torture, she died soon after.
