Ill health kept any religious house from taking her from an early age. Marrying Antony LeGras, an official to the queen, in 1611 she was to endure sorrow only 14 years later when she was widowed.Along with her spiritual mentor, Saint Vincent de Paul, she founded the Daughters of Charity in 1642, receiving Vatican approval in 1655.
